CHEF OWNER DAVID GARLINGE
Our chef owner, David Garlinge, has had the ambition of being a successful chef since he was a young child. He has been working in restaurants since he was just 15.
He’s worked in two of the largest multi-national restaurant companies in the UK. Gordon Ramsey Holdings and The Social Company, owned by Gordon Ramsey and Jason Atherton respectively. While at Gordon Ramsey Holdings, he worked at the Michelin starred Maze in Mayfair where he cooked for numerous VIPs, celebrities and even cooked for pop stars performing in the London 2012 Olympic closing ceremony.
At The Social Company, he worked primarily in the group’s flagship restaurant Pollen Street Social. While there he was also involved in some cross-site projects such as menu development and testing for new restaurants in the States, Middle East and Asia.
David Garlinge has also spent time working for some of the North East’s favourite and well-renowned restaurants such as Raby Hunt, Rockliffe Hall and River Cafe on the Tyne. In 2013 David took part in MasterChef Professionals and finished as a semi-finalist in a very tough competition.
David’s varied experience and technical expertise have enabled him to develop a unique style of cooking to deliver seasonal, locally sourced food with the influence of global flavours.
Restaurant Celebrus has its name derived from a Latin word meaning “Well frequented and well respected”. It is the first restaurant David has leased and owned, and he has high hopes that it will soon live up to the name Celebrus.
